5 Things to know as a Designer

Initiating a career in designing is as breezy as it seems, what’s tough is to stick to it by growing, constructing, developing, and maintaining the notion. There is no one mainstream maneuver to achieve a certain level of accomplishment. You have to make your own bible and abide by it but there are some certain rules which need to be there on the first page which are –

Design is a process

A process is simply a well-defined set of steps and decisional points for executing a specific task. But other than that, what we need to understand is that designing is an art and art is never rigid. In a process, all steps are interdependent and free of any quotidian procedure. A right modus operandi can overcome a lot of shortcomings and drawbacks.

A codified method is exactly what a design should not be mistaken for. There is no one precise recipe you should follow on every project to ensure success. Meanwhile, a functional process does bring forth a structure within which you can work, there’s usually always some need for improvisation along the way when designing products.

Design solutions are based on context

Context is the root of not just design but almost everything in this world. It is important to give context to every plan. Sticking to a context allows the audience to get a clearer picture of your idea.

For a designer, there are numerous problems and numerous square solutions thus in order to have a circumstance-based remedy context can be really helpful to the designer since it helps to have a better understanding of the problem and the solution that needs to be adhered to.

Design starts with an open slate of possibilities

As mentioned above there are endless number of possibilities for a designer. But a good designer is someone who knows what goes best for the client and for the design. Many times too many good ideas that don’t compliment each other can still create a disastrous result.

The diversity continues to grow but prospects are still limited to a certain set of guidelines.

Design impacts business

Agree or not, but the way you represent your business and the way it is being showcased highly affects the trade. There are tons of examples where a good design or relatable design has single-handedly been responsible for a hike in their sales. A phenomenal example of this was when Cadbury witnessed a major downfall of sales in its favorite product “Gems”. The product managers back then understood the need for a new packaging with some more creative ideas. Since then, gems have never stopped innovating. The product of a value could be flourished or withered with a good or bad design respectively.

Design can change society (and the world of learning)

We have this social stigma where we believe that design has such a major impact on the people in just today’s time. Design has done wonders on people throughout and beyond. It is sad to know that the contribution of design has been backhanded. Every solution while creating something or making it better is contributed by designs, and just like any leader, a designer always takes care of the requirements and comforts of every user or consumer and then finds the easiest, simplest, and yet, the most efficient “WAY” to get something done

Design not only paves way for us to develop and evolve in a more comfortable fashion but also gives us a reasonable and congenial aspect in life.

Make sure you by heart these 5 rules to thrive in your designing business.
